Musical paintings

It’s all about the desire to transcribe the emotions which music provokes, in colours, shapes and movement… It is perhaps the need to freeze something ethereal, an instant of pleasure.. The repertoire is varied and if certain paintings are the reflection of one piece of music, others, rather like a zoom, are that of one single musical line. Does a link exist between the tone and the colour, the rhythm and gesture, nuances and the texture ? The exercise is exciting but perilous, as P.Lejeune said « describing a dream always means running a risk”. Its realisation requires the most total silence in order to listen to an interior sound. Many interruptions are necessary, taking perspective, and undertaking corrections as dictated by careful listening to the specific piece, and again silence. Finally, if the canvas resonates sincerely for the eye and the ear, my goal is attained.
